FOSST

FOSST
is the student sports council for all student sports in Tilburg.
Advocacy
FOSST’s primary goal is to represent the interests of all student athletes in Tilburg. The sports council is the point of contact for all 23 student sports clubs and individual athletes. Approximately 6,500 students in Tilburg have a sports card for the Tilburg University Sports Center, allowing them to use its facilities and extensive sports offerings. For Sports Council Pendragon, it is important that students are central and heard in order to meet the needs of student sports.
Representation
Many internal and external relationships are crucial for student sports. Therefore, FOSST represents the student sports clubs (SSVs) and all student athletes in consultations with other student organizations at Tilburg University. The sports council also works closely with the management and staff of the Sports Center to align and, where necessary, improve the quality of student sports. FOSST also represents Tilburg student sports at the national level. For example, there is a monthly meeting with all the sports councils of the other university cities in the Netherlands and the umbrella organization StudentenSport Nederland.
Support, Incentive, and Promotion
For national student sports events such as the Batavieren Race, Student Winter Sports, and the Grand Dutch Student Championship, FOSST organizes the Tilburg delegation. In addition to the national events, the sports council also organizes its own events to promote student sports as much as possible. Examples include various clinics, the Futsal competition, the Carnival Volleyball Tournament, and the Tilburg Student Championship Stef Stunt Pilot. Student associations (SSVs) are involved as much as possible in organizing these events to strengthen their respective associations. Not only the sporting events, but also activities such as a board day or champions’ party are organized to develop the leadership of student association boards.
FOSST aims to support the governing bodies and associations both organizationally and partly financially, in order to maximize the quality of both recreational and in-depth sports. In order to increase student sports as much as possible, there is a lot of contact with external institutions such as Tilburg University, Fontys & Avans University of Applied Sciences and the Municipality of Tilburg.
